Girish Ramdas - கிரீஷ் ராம்தாஸ்

Girish Ramdas is the Co-founder and CEO of Magzter, a New York based startup that has been making waves in the global digital publishing business. Magzter has crossed 80 million users since its inception in 2011 from more than 150+ countries with 1000s of magazines, newspapers and books from more than 4,500 publishers worldwide. He has more than 25 years of experience in cross-platform publishing, including print, mobile, and Web development. During this period, he has co-founded and run three successful start-up businesses. He has enabled magazine companies to go digital and helps them monetize their content across the digital world. Girish's deep industry experience in online, mobile and publishing ecosystems has made him an expert in acquisition, marketing and monetizing digital content across platforms globally.

 

He was voted the CIOL Technology Person of the Year for 2012 for his contribution to the global digital publishing business. He was invited to speak at the prestigious World Magazine Congress in Rome in 2013 to address the world publishers on digital publishing and its future. He was awarded the TiE Innovative Entrepreneur of the Year award for 2013 and was listed for the second time in the Fortune magazine's 40 under 40 list of global Indian Entrepreneurs. Magzter has been awarded the TiE “Billion dollar baby” award in 2014. Magzter also won the Best News & Magazine App Award by Global Mobile App Summit & Awards (GMASA) in 2017.

 

Prior to Magzter, he was the President of Dot Com Infoway (DCI) and Galatta Media. His duties included strategic marketing, partnership development, and monetizing content globally. DCI grew from a small team of 3 in 2000 to 300 by 2011 and was dealing with web, software and app development for clients globally.

 

In 2000, Girish also co-founded South India's largest entertainment portal www.galatta.com and published South India's first English language movie magazine in 2007 both of which continue to grow exponentially based on the strong foundation set by Girish during his tenure there. He also was the Founder of Think Music.

 

Girish Ramdas was a State Rank holder in academics from Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Chennai and holds an Engineering degree from the College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University Chennai.

 

Fun facts: He has earned six Indian national gold medals in rifle shooting and holds the national record in one event. He runs 5 - 10 kms every day. He also practices yoga daily. He is an avid Tennis and Badminton player and occasionally plays golf too!

தமிழகத்தின் தலைநகரான சென்னையில் காலூன்றி, மிகவும் பிடித்த துறையான இதழியலில் துறையில் எம்.ஏ. ஜர்னலிஷம் அன்ட் மாஸ் கம்யூனிகேஷன்(M.A., Journalism and Mass Communication) முடித்து, அச்சு மற்றும் மின் ஊடகங்களுக்குத் தேவையான கணிப்பொறி படிப்பிலும் சான்றிதழ் பெற்று பணியில் என்னை மென்மேலும் தகுதிப்படுத்திக் கொண்டேன்.

கடந்த 20 ஆண்டுகளைத்தொட்டு குமுதம் வார இதழ், சன் தொலைகாட்சி., சத்தியம் தொலைகாட்சி, பாலிமர் தொலைகாட்சி., போன்ற பிரபல ஊடகங்களின் செய்தி பிரிவில் பத்திரிக்கையாளராய் பணிபுரிந்திருக்கிறேன்.

 

தற்போது தினகரன் நாளிதழ் மற்றும் சன் தொலைக் காட்சி குழுமத்தில் இருந்து வெளியாகும் குங்குமம் தோழி பெண்கள் பத்திரிகையில் துணை ஆசிரியராக பொறுப்பில் இருக்கிறேன்.விளிம்பு நிலை மக்களையும்.. பெண்களையும் முன்னிலைப்படுத்துவதும். அவர்களுக்காக எழுதுவதுமே என் எழுத்தாக இருக்கிறது.

Sengodan Vasudevan - செங்கோடன் வாசுதேவன்

S.Vasudevan- born in Vennandur near Salem and grew up in Attayampatty as the eldest son of a Teastall owner. He studied in local primary and high school and emerged as one of the top students. 

After completing SSLC in 1976, he took a break in education to open groceries shop to support the family. After improving the economic conditions of the family, he continued PUC in Chickiah Naicker college in Erode. With good results, he got admission in Government College of Engineering, Salem and completed Mechanical Engineering graduation with Honours. In the college, S. Vasudevan was active in seminars and organizing Career guidance programs for fellow students, as Secretary of Society of Mechanical Engineers.. 

 

After joining Ashok Leyland in May-1982 thru campus selection, he moved on to BHEL Trichy as ‘Engineer Trainee’ in November 1982. BHEL provided the opportunity to excel professionally and he earned the role of Deputy Manager of Nuclear Operations - managing 4 production areas consisting of Heavy Fabrication, Heavy Machining, Light Machining and Assembly shops. It was an honour to manage a team of engineers, supervisors and more than 300 technicians. S. Vasudevan and team were spearheading the technology development in manufacturing Nuclear equipment for Various Nuclear power plants and Nuclear Submarine. This laid the foundation for all the successes in the future. 

 

In 1995, he moved to Singapore and started career as Senior Project Engineer in Jurong Engineering Ltd and managed a project sewage treatment plant project and cement plant project. 

 

In 1998, he promoted the company ‘Deva Management Services’ and entered Offshore Oil & Gas FPSO construction industry. It became a private limited company in 2004. After numerous successful projects to various clients, S. Vasudevan promoted another company Deva Preservation Services Pte Ltd in 2013.  This company is harnessing the latest technology developments to manufacture new products that eliminates rust / corrosion and help to reduce the carbon footprint of companies. This is sustainability solutions company, eliminating wastages and increasing life of assets. This is headquartered in Singapore with subsidiaries in India and USA. 

 

In the areas of charity, enabling the education of economically challenged bright students and eliminating hunger are his main focus areas. Through the Lions Club, Global Welfare Foundation and Club 100 S. Vasudevan successfully carries out his mission of charity.
